Engineering Section Purpose
Engineering Section (S-8) purposes are quite important within the ISL structure. They give a place for the technically proficient Patriots who want to serve in a Section that allows them to find better way to do things, love of DIY (do it yourself) type projects. These are members that are “skilled trades” type individuals with many different types of skills that loves challenges. Engineering Section (S-8) are the “fixers” of the ISL for problems that arise. They draft the plans and build items needed in the ISL, especially for Self-Sufficiency projects.
Engineering Section Responsibilities
Engineering Section (S-8) responsibilities are many, but necessary for the overall success of the ISL.

Take projects from the planning to the final product stage and implementation of any physical project within the ISL.

The construction arm and the ones who maintain and upgrade existing machines/projects.

Building and maintaining Hubs, Retreats, and other ISL structures.

Assisting Communications (S-3) at times running lines, placing antennas, and placing generators or alt power.

Any “skilled trades” issues that arise.

Help with the placement of security sensors, cameras, or towers.
7. Use and maintenance of heavy equipment, generators, solar panel, wind turbines, etc.

Construction of greenhouse, storage buildings, root cellars, roadways, communication towers, etc.

Assist the Mechanized Section (S-7) in modifying their vehicles if requested.

Works as advisors and hands on with other Sections to assist with projects that will arise.
The Engineering Section (S-8) does have S.O.P.s they go by, but they have latitude on how to address each of their projects, and approach them with the overall ISL goals in mind as they do.
