Purpose of Rifleman Section
The purpose of the Rifleman Section is for members who primarily use rifles and are very concerned about rifle marksmanship and its application of it in real world events where a handgun might not be enough tool for the job. The Rifleman Section Members are well taught ISL Members that can use their rifles at much longer ranges and with much more precision than the average members. These members tend to be more the outdoors/hunters/and sportsman type members who love nature and being out in it.
Rifleman Section Goals
There are many goals in the Rifleman Section (S5), the most import being the skill with a rifle, and being able to employ said rifles at close and far distances. A skilled rifleman should be able to control everything within a quarter mile. Their outdoors skills would also play a role as well as be able to work well as a team member. These members work as a team to set up camps, rendezvous points, food distribution points, resupply points, just to name a few. They are only limited by their imagination on how this Section can be utilized.
The Rifleman Section is also a gateway for members who have even more drive who want to learn more specialized skill sets such as the Recondo Section, TACOM (Tactical Communications) Section, and more. A Rifleman is a blend of military and hunting skill sets, masters of field equipment and all 3 levels of Personal Field Gear.
A Rifleman can set up a deer stand, or conduct a proper military patrol, checking animal trails, or setting up an ambush site. A Rifleman is very home in the outdoors and in the woods, and views it as a second home. The Rifleman knows land navigation skills, both primitive and modern, so they can always know where they are at, and where they are going.
The Rifleman is definitely “Field Deployable”, type member who is comfortable enough in “the field” to be out for a short amount to a few days to accomplish their objectives. Self-sufficient and self-reliant are the hallmarks of the Rifleman.
